How to dye black hair?

i have jet black hair (natural) and i want to get "back"lights which is when you color the bottom part of your hair. i want like a blue or purple but ive tried 2 times to color with temporary hair color and every time it never comes out my hair remains black. i just want to know what i can do to get it to grab b/c it is too expensive to go to a hair salon, and ive tried to look for perm. hair color but the sallys that ive been to doesnt have it in the wacky colors that i want, so if you know a store that def has perm wacky hair color or you have an idea to help me dye my hair plz let me know!!!!

I did this to my own hair and my best friends hair..

You have to buy bleach and bleach your hair

but because its so dark it may not take the first time and you would have to do it again.

Its not recommended to bleach hair because you damage it alot but we still do it.

After you bleach it apply the color..

the reason why the temporary color didnt show up on your hair is because its too dark and temporary hair colors cannot physically lighten hair because they dont contain ammonia or hydrogen peroxide.
