How to get my multi-tone dark brown hair back from pitch black dye-job?

I naturally have dark, multi tonal brown hair. You know hair that you think is actually black untill you dye your hair "black" and it goes BLUE BLACK with no variation in colour. I just dyed my hair bottle black (it said NATURAL black!!) and my hair is PITCH BLACK and unreal! its goth black, not even , its like BLUE! I want my dark brown hair back! and the box said permanent. But if you wash your hair loads and loads of times you should surely get some naturalness back into it....right?

Does washing your hair alot make it look less un realistic?

what can i do to get NATURAL looking black hair! HELP!!!

I had exactly the same problem a few years back!

Black hair dye ALWAYS look awful at first - it takes a good few weeks before it starts looking less like a wig and more 'normal'.

I found the best thing was to just keep washing my hair - literally several times a day at first, over and over...!

Within a few weeks, the colour began to fade and my own brown tones began to show through a bit. The colour softened quite a bit and looked a lot better.

I think this is your best option - your only other choice would be to go to the salon and have the black professionally 'stripped' out - I wouldn't advise this as it's a fairly uncomfortable and lengthy treatment and it's not good for your hair or scalp.

So just keep washing that hair! Use a gentle, 'frequent use' shampoo.

Let your natural hair grow out! Not much you can do once you dye them black.

If you try to wash it out your hair will become damaged, dry %26amp; brittle. Try putting in brown highlights or go for a brown permanent dye. Stripping your hair is basically bleaching it which will make it orange and you have to re-dye right away. That will make it feel and sound like straw no matter how much you condition after.

you can buy hair stripper which will strip the dye out of your hair and bring it back to your natural colour! ask in chemists! or go hairdressers, that will cost allot more though!

Oh no! This sort of thing happened to me. I had blonde hair, and was with a friend and we were having a hair coloring party, and I was trying for strawberry blonde, and I stupidly bought this color called, "Chocolate Cherry" and I thought it would make my hair a little redder, but when I rinsed it out and looked at myself in the mirror, I screamed! My hair was, like yours, pitch black. And it's still black now. That was about four years ago. I know you won't want to hear this, but if the box on the hair color says *permanent*- it means, permanent! I thought if I got my hair stripped of all color, I could color it back to at least a dark blonde. Nope. My hair stylist told me that if I had my hair stripped, it would be very damaging, and I might lose a lot of hair. We just can't win, can we? Well, I would get a consultation with a professional hair colorist first, but if you want immediate results, at LEAST you could find a black shade that does not have any blue in it. I know you want your dark, multi tonal brown hair again, but the only way to get it back is to shave your head! (If I was on a desert island, I'd do it.) But you can get rid of the blue black color by using Natural Match hair color by L'oreal in "Blackest Black". I know that doesn't sound reassuring, but at least the blue will go away. I totally feel for you, believe me! :o( ( and since it's permanent, it doesn't matter how much you wash your hair, the color will not come out. You just have to wait for it to grow out. I sort of got used to my hair this way. I have very fair skin, and I like the contrast now. Also, people treat me differently than when I was a blonde. It's nonsense, but people don't mess with me anymore like they did when I was a blonde. Anyway, that's another story. Good luck! I know JUST how you're feeling..I'd give almost anything to have my blonde hair back if I could.

You can get these sort of toners here in like little sachets. Maybe some of stores around you could have them and they might have one to help highlight it a little bit.
