Should I dye my hair lighter or darker?

I have extremely fair skin and dark blue eyes. My hair is dirty blonde. I don't think it looks that good with my light skin, so I want to dye it. I am stuck between dying it a lighter blonde or an auburn color. The auburn would have enough red in it not to make me look super pale. Which should I do? Would a picture help?

You'd look good with a chestnut color hair, don't go lighter because you'll be washed out, light brown for sure.

%26amp;%26amp; dark hair makes people look younger especially if you have fair skin. I think you should dye it SLIGHTLY darker not too dark cos I dont think it will suit you although usually in my opinion most people look better brunette lol.

I don't usually like auburn hair but sometimes it looks okay with green eyes. If its definetly between those two colors then i'd definetly say lighter blonde but as far as your description goes i think youd look good with almost dark brown

and yea u can go blonde again but it might have to be done at a salon, but my friend was blonde and went dark brown but got blonde dye from sally beauty supply and she is blonde again! haha lol

I had hair that was a little lighter than yours and my comlpexion was pretty similar, and I have medium green eyes. I had to dye my hair an auburnish color for this play I was in, and I got a lot of compliments about how it made my feautures (especially my eyes) stand out. So I'd go darker.

I think I have the same complexion as you...assuming you also buy the palest shade of foundation. My eyes are light blue and I have rosy undertones. I also have naturally dirty blonde hair...

I find that both colors look really great on me. I was super light blonde over the summer and now I'm a dark auburn. Everyone will tell you that dark colors will wash you out. When I'm blonde, everyone tells me that the dark hair will wash me out. When I have dark hair, everyone tells me that light hair will wash me out. None of these colors leave me washed out.

With your blue eyes, a dark auburn will make your eyes pop! You will have these crazy blue eyes! Blue eyes with auburn hair looks hot! (Everyone expects blonde with blue eyes...but no one expects dark hair with such light eyes).

I don't look washed out with the auburn. BUT, with the darker hair you should also darken your makeup. I use a peachy blush and a light raspberry lipstick/gloss. You can also go heavier on the eyeliner.

I found with blonde hair, it was harder to go with dramatic eyes. With blonde hair, I could do more pastel eyeshadows but I couldn't do much for lipstick. I kept more of a natural "beachy" look.

My friend also recently went from blonde to brunette and she loved it as well!

I would definitely try it...if you hate it, you can redye it, it's only hair.

A word of caution - expect your hair to fade once you dye it dark. You will likely still have blonde undertones after you dye it. If you want to slow the fading, wash your hair in cold water (just not scalding hot water), buy good shampoo/conditioner, only shampoo every other day (condition daily if you wish), don't rub your hair with a towel - instead invest in a towel turban (it will keep the color better).

That thing you heard about not being able to get your hair blonde again, is a lie. It's garbage. I've gone from black hair to platinum to brown to blonde to red......you might want to see a stylist because it can be difficult as you actually do need bleach (or a lightening agent) to get to a lighter shade.

After seeing your pic - DO IT! Auburn! (everyone here says chestnut, but I find chestnut so boring...the red undertones in auburn would be perfect!)

And don't start tanning...I've learned to embrace the fact that my skin matches paper...plus, I find that the fake tan with the fake hair looks FAKE. The pale skin with dark hair is a very classic look...think 1950's Hollywood, it's very glamorous.

i would say either getting alot of really blonde highlights, to give your hair more demention, or i would say to go a medium to dark brown. i've done hair on people with your eyes and skin tone, and it looks fabulous, it would really bring out the color in your eyes.
